Ticino chestnut-drying house (19th c.)This small building stood on a sloping ground near Prato, in Val Lavizzara (upper Maggia Valley). In the valleys of Ticino and southern Graubünden, chestnuts were the main food during the long winter months. The chestnuts were preserved thanks to these kilns built in dry-wall stone masonry.
