Kíssamos (Kastélli)
Kissamos (or Kastelli) is the last village to the west on the main road running along the north coast of Crete. It is a small, unpretentious seaside resort, but above all it is a good base from which to explore the island’s most famous beaches.

The beaches of Balos and Elafonisi, unfortunately, are world-famous and have inevitably fallen victim to overtourism. But there are plenty of other places to discover in the far west of Crete!

You can easily see everything the village of Kissamos has to offer: a central square featuring a pretty chapel and an interesting archaeological museum, along with a few tavernas. A little further on, there is an old Venetian fountain and a large church. The beach, with its many tavernas, lies below the village, just over 500 metres away.

There are some beautiful spots to see in the hinterland: a spectacular road lined with oleanders that winds its way along the west coast, with a small bar near the hamlet of Amygdalokefali whose terrace offers a spectacular view of the sea; a lunar landscape at Komolithi near the village of Potomida; the cave and chapel of Agia Sofia, above the Topolia Gorge. All places from which we have brought you panoramic views...

But of course we shot plenty of panoramas in the village of Kissamos, 25 of which are already online. Soon, around 50 more panoramas will take you to the beach and to the archaeological museum... Thank you for your patience!
