Murten - Old Town

Murten (in French Morat), on the shores of the lake of the same name and facing the vineyards of Vully, is one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Switzerland. It is situated on the linguistic border between German and French. Until the 15th century it was mainly French-speaking, but from the end of the 17th century German became the majority language and today it is spoken by more than three quarters of the population.
